THE Africa Hall of Fame has officially opened nominations for its continental awards, while announcing a new date for the ceremony.
In a statement, organisers said the decision to reschedule the event to August 8 at Rainbow Towers in Harare, follows an overwhelming public response to the initial call for nominations, prompting organisers to broaden their research and engagement across Africa.
“We have expanded our outreach across the continent to ensure every country has an opportunity to participate in this historic initiative,” reads part of the statement from the organisers.
“The new date allows us to complete a comprehensive and credible selection process involving Africans from all walks of life.”
The Africa Hall of Fame seeks to recognise exceptional Africans whose contributions have transformed lives and inspired communities.
“Honourees will include celebrated heroes and legends, as well as ordinary citizens making an extraordinary impact in their respective fields.
“Nominations remain open, with members of the public invited to nominate deserving individuals in sectors including business, arts and culture, sport, leadership, innovation, humanitarian work and community development.
“Our mission is to celebrate excellence from every corner of Africa,” reads the statement.
