Africa-Nordic Foreign Ministers meeting kicks off

THE 22nd Africa-Nordic Foreign Ministers Meeting has officially commenced here in Victoria Falls.
The two-day high-level forum has drawn foreign ministers from across Africa and the five Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden—alongside business leaders, young innovators, and academics.

In a statement ahead of the event, Mrs Philisiwe Chidawanyika, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, outlined the significance of the event.

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Honourable Prof. dr. Amon Murwira will host the 22 Africa-Nordic Foreign Ministers Meeting in Victoria Falls from 2 to 3 October 2025, under the theme: ‘Leveraging Technology and Collaboration for Future-Ready Societies’. The high-level meeting will bring together Ministers of Foreign Affairs from across Africa, and the five Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden—representatives of business and private sector, young innovators and academia for a strategic dialogue to consolidate cooperation between Africa and the Nordic countries through a heightened focus on innovation, trade and investment,” she said.

She further highlighted that Zimbabwe’s hosting of this important meeting will contribute to building strategic, mutually beneficial partnerships towards the attainment of the country’s Vision 2030 and “the Africa we want.”

The meeting’s packed agenda features several key sessions designed to foster dialogue and partnership.

Thursday’s programme includes the Africa-Nordic Business Roundtable Forum, focusing on Sustainable Prosperity Through Partnerships, and a Young Innovators Forum titled Youth as Catalysts for Sustainable Development.

An academic panel will also explore the shift From Aid to Trade, reflecting a growing emphasis on sustainable economic ties.

Friday’s sessions will include a Business Plenary on strengthening investment and trade relations, and a Multilateralism Plenary addressing global peace and security challenges. Break-out roundtables will delve into UN reform and accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
