adminIn a telephone interview from Harare yesterday, the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee chief executive officer Anna Mguni said they were expecting the delegates to jet in today.
She said delegates would also discuss the countries’ preparations for the London 2012 Olympics among other things.
“We are excited as Zimbabwe to be afforded an opportunity to host such a conference. This is a first for women and we hope to learn a lot from this. Delegates will start arriving on Saturday as the conference will run on Monday and Tuesday.
“The heads of national associations will also discuss their state of preparedness for the London Olympics that are on later this year. There is also a general assembly that will be held in the USA later this year which national associations have to discuss. The president of ANOCA Palenfo will be here,” said Mguni.
The ANOCA African Women in Sports Conference comes months after Fifa held a women’s workshop in Harare and this might be a sign that international sports bodies have a keen interest in developing women sport.
