African stories inspire Ray Mupats’ new EP

SOUTH Africa-based reggae artist, Ray Mupats real name Raymond Mupatapanja has released a new Extended Play (EP) titled ‘‘Motherland’’.

The six-track compilation carries tracks like Motherland, featuring Dee, Spirit of Nature, Rabbit Hole, Shadowself and Letter to My Son, featuring NGK and Hondo.

Speaking to H-Metro, about the EP, Ray Mupats said various African stories of the resilience of black men inspired his compilation.

“The black men in Africa have many stories to tell, be it the struggle, love or celebrations. As an African, I also wanted to tell these stories through music. 

“It’s a soulful reggae compilation that has soothing music.

“I released the EP last month and I have been getting good feedback from various listeners on my online platforms,” he said.

Ray Mupats has been releasing music in the last decade and has shown his versatility when he has been engaged in other genres like house, afro beats and hip hop.

His last album “No Borders In Africa” was released in 2020.

Ray Mupats is also a poet, writer and actor.
