African Union Commission chairperson pays visit to the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN)

africanACALAN was honoured on November 3 to receive the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma. She met the staff and had an hour long discussion with them. The Executive Secretary, Professor Sozinho Francisco Matsinhe, presented ACALAN’s activities, achievements and challenges to the Chairperson, who encouraged the staff to continue with their good work, saying that she would always be available for and attentive to the academy’s work, considering the important role African languages play as depository and vehicles of our cultures, shared values, worldview, and the overall objectives of  building an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in international relations.

Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma’s visit to ACALAN was part of her visit to Mali and the Sahel region that will also take her to Niamey, Ouagadougou, and N’djamena. – African Union Commission.
