Africa’s recoveries surpass 4m

A total of 4 335 780 recoveries have been recorded since the start of the pandemic in 2019, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has said.

According to the Africa CDC, Africa recorded 4 788 216 cumulative cases and 129 345 deaths as at May 27.

Total tests conducted in Africa are 47 219 156.

Southern Africa continues to dominate the region with 2 054 693 cumulative cases, 64 265 deaths and 1 927 110 recoveries.

Central Africa has the lowest recordings with 172 374 cases, 2 776 deaths and 158 444 recoveries.

On the other hand, Mozambique recorded 70 651 cumulative cases, 834 deaths and 69 193 recoveries.

On the same date, according to Africa CDC, Zambia has recorded 93 627 cases, 1 273 deaths and 91 239 recoveries.
