THE Under-16 national basketball team will troop into camp this weekend at Girls High in Harare as they prepare for the Afro basket championship qualifiers to be held in Gaborone, Botswana, from May 25 to June 2. Team manager Meluleki Ndlovu said the players have been training separately in their provinces since the last 10-day training session held during the April school holidays.

“We’ll be bringing all the players together this weekend. They’ve been training apart for some time now and improving their individual strengths but now we want to get combinations for them. It’s important that they train as a unit to understand each other,” said Ndlovu.

“We’ve some financial challenges that have prevented us from holding our training camps as often as we wanted. I’m calling on the corporate world and any individual who’s willing to aid us in any way that they can.”

After the weekend camp the team will set base in Bulawayo before departure for Gaborone on May 23.

“The team will have a day to rest before the games. We’ve a good team which I’m confident will do their best to bring glory,” said Ndlovu.
