UP-AND-COMING Afro-jazz musician, Agenda Jonathan Maphosa will be holding a listening session for his second album titled Ekhaya Kuse Khaya/Home is Home on Wednesday afternoon.

The album is due to be released on December 1 with the listening session meant for the artiste to get constructive feedback from people who include artistes, sound experts, producers and others who are involved in the production of music.

Those set to grace the session taking place in Bulawayo’s city centre from midday are Black Umfolosi co-founder Sotsha Moyo, Iyasa director Nkululeko Dube, Khuxxman, Madlela Skhobokhobo, Mimie Tarukwana, SadeeLensWorks, VeinsMedia, Charles “Mahlaba” Banda and Marve-T.

Maphosa said he was holding this listening session as he wants to interact with other established artistes and get valuable feedback before finalising the album.

“As an up-and-coming musician, you have to humble yourself and get to learn from those who’ve been in the industry for quite a while. This listening session is my way of seeking for musical advice from my fellow colleagues.

“The event is also set to coincide with birthday celebrations of my daughter, Khanyiselwa Leonah,” he said.

The musician said the forthcoming album will educate the public about the importance of preserving their culture and not forgetting their roots.

Tracks on the album are Landela featuring Prosper Tshuma; Abantwana featuring Sotsha Moyo, Helen, Michelle and Bajilla; Skhathele; Ngilahlekelwe; African featuring Iyasa and Mahlaba; Asthandeni; Imali yakho and title track Ekhaya Kuse Khaya. He said he will likely include another track titled Uzozisola which is set to feature Liverpool-based musician, Mazed. In order to hype up the album, a teaser will be released on October 1. — @mthabisi_mthire.
