AFZ gives stationery to Murongwe Primary School

the Air Force of Zimbabwe intervened and built the modern classrooom blocks.
Air Marshal Shiri said the donations would assist the students in their education by providing necessary learning and educational material.
The donation included text and exercise books and writing material for teachers and students.
“Murongwe Primary School has transformed from derelict make-shift structures to one of the modern schools not only in Dande but in the country,” said Air Marshal Shiri.
“I am proud of the community’s high level of participation in the construction of the school and the tremendous support from the local leadership under Chief Chiswiti.
“There are many projects that became misfits because the intended beneficiaries could not identify with them and I am pleased Murongwe Primary School is not one of                          them.”
Air Marshal Shiri said education was the basic tool for empowerment and the Government had championed the promotion of education since independence which saw Zimbabwe being celebrated for leading the continent with the highest literacy rate.
“The buildings alone will not guarantee that the school will provide the best education, there is a need to complement these with material support such as books,” he said.
“I am challenging other artists and well-wishers to follow the example of Dominic (Benhura), who has set the pace by donating text books for the school library, and Oliver Mtukudzi who sponsored the construction of a classroom block.”
Six classrooms, one ECD centre, one administration block, nine staff houses and a computer laboratory were constructed through the Air Force of Zimbabwe fund.
Four of the classrooms are already operational, while the ECD centre, computer laboratory, administration block and staff houses are at an advanced stage of construction.
Murongwe Primary School headmaster Mr Paul Chimudzi said student enrollment had increased since the construction of the school classrooms from 379 to 643.
