AFZ shines in S Africa

Mnangagwa and AFZ chief of staff Supporting Services Air Vice-Marshal Shebba Shumbayaonda, among other senior officials and thousands of aviation enthusiasts from all over the world, attended the air show.

Speaking on the sidelines of the air show, AVM Shumbayaonda commended the AFZ team for a polished display, which showcased the professionalism and competence of the force.
He said the air exhibition was an opportunity to showcase skills in the AFZ and share with other players in the aviation industry.

“The Air Force of Zimbabwe regularly participates at the African Aerospace and Defence exhibition and it is through participation at such high-profile exhibitions that we demonstrate our expertise and also share ideas and experiences from our regional counterparts.
“The event is also going to help us in working together as partners in future with other countries and to build trust and confidence within the region.”

The Zimbabwean team comprises pilots Wing Commander Ezweni Masuku and Flight Lieutenant Samuel Chihovo with their co-pilots Flight Lieutenant Tinofara George Shumba and Flight Lieutenant Surprise Mariwati. The team engaged in breakthrough aerobatic sequences, which included the half-cubian eight, barrel roll, high-speed pass and inverted flight, among other sequences.

The AFZ has become a regular participant at the event showcasing its aircraft.
