AG, NPA Bill heads for consultations

The Attorney-General’s Office Amendment Bill and the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Bill is now headed for public consultation, as legislators seek the people’s views in fulfilment of the Constitution.

At least four meetings have been lined up by Parliament’s portfolio committee on Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs chaired by Makoni South MP, Cde Misheck Mataranyika (Zanu PF), starting next Monday.

The committee will hold meetings on Monday in Harare and at Gweru Civic Centre, while the following day, they will have meetings at Holiday Inn in Bulawayo and Queens Hall in Mutare.

“The Portfolio Committee on Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs will hold public consultations on the Attorney General’s Office Amendment Bill and the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Bill from the 13th to the 14th of July 2020,” reads a notice published by Clerk of Parliament, Mr Kennedy Chokuda.

“The committee will be divided into two teams and will cover various places.”

The public hearings will at all times comply with the Ministry of Health and Child Care Covid-19 regulations regarding the observance of social distancing, sanitisation, temperature screening and wearing of face masks.
