WILL Agama pull off a rare double and humble N’ombeyawora on their own turf?
That is the burning question as the Northern Region Soccer League title chasers collide at The Heart Stadium tomorrow 13.
Agama edged N’ombeyawora 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Pfura in Mount Darwin back in May, with veteran striker Grey Kufandada providing the winner.
Kufandada, once on the books of Herentals, Harare City and Arenel Movers, has been leading the attacking line in Agama’s title aspirations.
That defeat in Mt Darwin briefly knocked N’ombeyawora off the summit and it still stings the flamboyant outfit.
And N’ombeyawora coach Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera insists revenge is not his team’s focus.
“This thinking is not part of our philosophy. We play to collect points and not to avenge,
“We are going to exploit the home advantage to collect maximum points.”
For Saruchera, the real winners will be the fans.
“They will definitely witness good football. The fact that Agama are in second position means they are a good team.”
Agama coach Paul “Popopo” Chimalizeni carries an unbeaten league record since taking charge of the team five months ago.
Chimalizeni, who like Saruchera is one the league’s most experienced coaches, has seen his side win eight and drawn three.
The former Lengthens and Banket United coach, also holds the historical edge over Saruchera.
As Mushowani Stars assistant in 2014, he oversaw a 2-1 win over Saruchera’s Flame Lily before sharing a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture.
Two years earlier, while at ZPC Kariba, his team beat Saruchera’s Black Rhinos 3-2 before losing the return match 1-0.
He, however, believes that N’ombeyawora will come hard.
“It is obvious. These guys want nothing but revenge. All I can say is that we are preparing for this match,” Chimalizeni said.
“The better team will win.”
Both sides have declared their ambition to lift the title.
With only four points between them and 10 matches left, every point counts.
