GOSPEL musician, Agatha Murudzwa,  turned this year’s Independence Musical Concert stage into a pulpit to preach against drugs and substance abuse.

Agatha took the stage soon after Dorcas Moyo’s energetic praise songs.

She warmed up her audience with a worship song “Makatendeka,” before warning the youths on the dangers of abusing drugs.

“We have talented young people among us today, but alas, mutoriro watipedzera tarenda iroro,” said Agatha.

“A number of our youths are perishing and some were swallowed by graves before they showcased what God had bestowed in them.

“Let us join hands in fighting drug and substance abuse as well as exposing those cashing on illicit drug deals.

“Tinoda zvipo zvedu, tinoda tiyambutse hama dzedu nemhuri dzedu.

“We do not want our youth to fade, perish or die because of abusing drugs.”

She went on to sing another worship song, interceding for the youth, before turning into songs of praise.

She rounded off by playing her song “Press On”.

Other gospel artists who gave spirited performances included Mathias Mhere, who left many yawning for more.

The Independence Gala was broadcast live on Zimpapers Television Network as well as ZBC.
