Agent off the case

Premiership.
Club chairman Felix Dzumbunu confirmed last night that the former Zimbabwe international had been relieved of his duties.
This, he said, was being done to try and strengthen the technical department and ensure Saints survive relegation.

“Given our position on the log, we have decided to relieve Sawu of his position. We are not happy and we have resolved to elevate Edmore Sibanda to that position and, at the moment, he is the acting head coach in Willard Khumalo’s absence,” said Dzumbunu.
Khumalo is not feeling well.

Chikwata are 11th on the Premiership table with 17 points and need to do better in the second half if they are to survive relegation. The Chikwata boss said they were looking at getting more players to the team for the second half challenge.
He conceded that funding could put paid to their hopes of bringing in big names but assured fans that they would act to make sure that coaches have the material to survive relegation.

“We are looking at beefing up our squad. Obviously we do not have the funding to say buy a player for US$40 000, we will try get those that we can afford as you know finances are a problem though I would not say we are the worst in the league,” said Dzumbunu.
With Bosso and DeMbare’s debts hovering over US$500 000, Dzumbunu says the media has not been sympathetic to their plight.

“We are not the worst club in that regard. We owe not more than US$30 000 and we are hopeful that our supporters both local and abroad will donate kindly to our cause so that the players can have the necessary motivation,” said Dzumbunu.
The chairman said he was confident that the boys would whither the storm and survive the Premiership chop.

Sawu could not be reached for comment.
This was his first coaching job in the country after a brief spell in South Africa.
