ACTIVITY at the on-going Harare Agricultural Show is expected to reach its peak at the end of this week with the number of attendees increasing each day.
Zimbabwe Agricultural Society spokesperson Ms Heather Madombwe said more than 5 800 people attended the show yesterday.
“The number has decreased compared to the 8 000 that attended the show during the first three days of the show. Tomorrow we have a prize giving ceremony for the agricultural produce section where farmers are going to walk away with different wards.

“There will also be the stock exchange trading on Friday at 10am. We urge the show goers to feel safe and come prepared for edutainment,” she said.

She commended Zimbabweans for uniting and ensuring that the children’s future and business strives through platforms accorded during the event.

The crowd that attended the show yesterday was expected to be treated to fireworks and music from dancehall artist Winky D and sungura ace Alick Macheso. The streets at the agricultural show were congested with show-goers touring stands.

Farmers had time to meet input, machinery and other service providers with others saying they were exchanging crop varieties and ideas.
Children were mostly interested in riding horses and bikes while others preferred the Luna Park where they had the opportunity to play in jumping castles, boats and pools while eating candy floss. Outside the show, people were making brisk business through selling face masks, painting children’s faces and different toys.

Children took turns to sample different guns at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces stands.
There are cattle, sheep and pigs at this year’s animal section.
Children are being tagged upon entering the show premises by the Red Cross of Zimbabwe to ensure easy connection with parents and guardians in case they are lost.
The 2013 Show will be officially opened tomorrow by President Mugabe.
