THE Public Service Commission (PSC) has changed the job title of Agriculture Extension Officers (AEO) to Agricultural Business Advisory Officers (ABAO) with immediate effect.

The move is meant to incorporate the extension officers’ extended role in agricultural and rural development.

The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development confirmed this through their post on X.

“Zimbabwe’s agricultural future is bright from a strategic shift from AEO to ABAO to boost agribusiness, entrepreneurship and sustainable rural development.”

The change is also expected to enhance agribusiness and entrepreneurship support, strengthen market-oriented advisory services, promote sustainable rural development and advance national food security goals.

“All references to ‘Agricultural Extension Officer’ will henceforth be officially recognised as ‘Agricultural Business Advisory Officer,” said the ministry.
