Photojournalist Kuda Hunda captured the electric atmosphere at the National University of Science and Technology today as graduands, parents and guardians gathered for the institution’s landmark 2026 graduation ceremony in Bulawayo.
The ceremony, presided over by President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is Chancellor of all State Universities, also marks 32 years of NUST’s service to the nation.
The celebrations highlight the university’s implementation of Heritage-Based Education 5.0, which is producing skilled innovators and problem-solvers driving Zimbabwe towards Vision 2030.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Chancellor of all State Universities, is presiding over the National University of Science and Technology’s landmark 2026 graduation ceremony underway in Bulawayo today.
The prestigious event, which marks 32 years of NUST’s service to the nation, has brought together thousands of graduates and their families.
The ceremony highlights the university’s implementation of Heritage-Based Education 5.0, which continues to produce skilled innovators and problem-solvers driving industrialisation and the attainment of Vision 2030.
NUST star shines: Ngwenya bags 5 top prizes with 29 firsts out of 35
BULAWAYO – Nomagugu Precious Ngwenya stole the show at the National University of Science and Technology 2026 graduation ceremony today, cementing her place as one of the institution’s most decorated scholars.
Graduating in the First Division, Ngwenya achieved an extraordinary 29 first-class passes out of 35 modules, finishing with a weighted aggregate of 84 percent.
Her phenomenal run earned her a haul of five prestigious awards.
She scooped two Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Chancellor’s Awards – US$1 000 for being the Overall Best Female Undergraduate Student and US$500 for being the Overall Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Applied Science.
Beyond the Chancellor’s Awards, she also walked away with the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize, the NUST Book Prize and the ZIMDEF Prize for Best STEM Female Graduand in her faculty.
The ceremony, presided over by President Mnangagwa, marked 32 years of NUST’s service to the nation.
