Aguero to stay

HOUSTON. – Pep Guardiola has again reiterated that Sergio Aguero will remain a Manchester City player next season.

Guardiola has insisted he is happy with Aguero and Gabriel Jesus as his strikers despite Alexis Sanchez being linked with a transfer to the Etihad.

Speculation surrounding Aguero’s future resurfaced last week, with Chelsea having pondered the idea of attempting to prise him away from the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola, however, moved to quash that talk ahead of City’s friendly against Manchester United in Houston.

“You know my opinion on Sergio, I said it many times last season,” Guardiola said. “He’s our player. He will remain here. “We have two really good strikers in Sergio and Gabriel so, in that terms, we are good, it’s not about a striker. “The problem was last season Gabriel was out for a long time and we would like to see both of them together.”

City do still want to land Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, but view the Chilean as a potential bonus signing and there is no suggestion his possible arrival would impact on Aguero.

Paris Saint-Germain had looked at a deal for Aguero earlier in the year but his manager insists the 29-year-old will not be sold. Kelechi Ihenacho will though and was granted leave from the pre-season tour of America to seal a £25million switch to Leicester City. – Mailonline.
