Aid distribution persists

Government has said the distribution of relief in affected communities was ongoing and has strengthened its security systems ensuring that pilferage is minimised with targeted beneficiaries accessing the aid.

Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Deputy Minister Jennifer Mhlanga disclosed this at Manyame Air Base while receiving a consignment of medicines and sundries towards Cyclone Idai victims from the Federal Republic of Nigeria. — (See picture on Page 5)

This was the second consignment from Nigeria after in May it also donated US$500 and supplies of medicines and sundries. The consignment was handed over by Minister at Nigeria Embassy Tokunbo Falohun. On the donation, Deputy Minister Mhlanga said Government was indebted by the donation which was timely. “Nigeria is one of the African countries which came on board to assist us during the devastating period which left most of our people vulnerable.” — HR.
