THE Airports Company of Zimbabwe (Private) Limited (ACZ) has reconstituted its Board of Directors, with three new members appointed for a four-year tenure and Advocate Tichaona John Muhonde retained as chairperson for a second term.
The new board took effect on 21 August following appointments made by Transport and Infrastructural Development Felix Mhona in consultation with the Office of the President.
Dr Heriet Mhondiwa, Rtd Commissioner Clement Munoriarwa and Engineer Natalie Masvaire are the new board members, while Advocate Muhonde will continue to lead the board for another four years.
The changes also mark the end of the tenure of Dr Joseph Mabvure, Ms Nhewede and Mrs Rumbidzai Dihwa who have completed their final terms.
The reconstituted board comes as ACZ seeks to strengthen its strategic direction and accelerate transformation within Zimbabwe’s aviation sector, which is central to the movement of passengers and cargo and the facilitation of tourism, trade and investment.
The company expressed its appreciation to the outgoing directors for their contribution to the organisation during their respective terms.
“We bid a heartfelt farewell and express our profound gratitude to outgoing members Dr. T.J. Mabvure, Ms. T.J. Nhewede and Mrs. R. Dihwa for their invaluable leadership following the completion of their final terms.”
ACZ said the appointment of the new directors, coupled with the retention of Advocate Muhonde, would provide both fresh expertise and continuity at board level.
The appointments come as the country continues to invest in and modernise its transport infrastructure in line with broader economic development objectives.
Air transport infrastructure is an important component of Zimbabwe’s connectivity agenda, providing links to regional and international markets while supporting the growth of tourism and facilitating business travel and cargo movement.
ACZ’s board will consequently have a key governance and oversight role as the company works to improve the performance and competitiveness of the country’s airports.
The company said the new leadership configuration would give further impetus to its transformation programme.

The reconstitution of the board is expected to strengthen ACZ’s governance and provide strategic direction as the company pursues its mandate of developing and managing Zimbabwe’s airport infrastructure.
The continuation of Advocate Muhonde as chairperson also provides institutional continuity, while the appointment of three new directors brings additional expertise to the board as ACZ enters what it describes as an “ambitious new chapter”.
