TRADITIONAL music duo Dzibalemvula Ezomdabuko have paid tribute to their ancestors for guiding their journey in the arts industry through their ninth studio album, Ake Sibonge.
The album, which is available on digital platforms including YouTube, features songs reflecting the duo’s journey in the arts industry.
Ake Sibonge comprises 12 tracks: Sibonge Amadlozi, Ayilajubani, Giya Wunkwe, Njele Azikhale, Ha Buya Mambo, Nikela Mfana, Naba Bafo Bengibulala, Insimbi Zamakhiwa, Bayanyenyeza, Nkhulule Gogo, Egayiwe and Hlanya.
The tracks fuse ingoma zamakhehla and zabogogo — traditional songs rooted in ancestral calls and spirituality — with modern rhythms, creating a distinctive sound that connects traditional music with contemporary audiences.
Evias Bhebhe and Awakhiwe M Nkosi make up Dzibalemvula Ezomdabuko, with the duo carving a niche by blending traditional African compositions with contemporary instrumentation and making ancestral music accessible to modern audiences.
“We have released our ninth album and this is to simply thank our ancestors for being with us always. From where we started, the journey wasn’t easy, but now we can say we have excelled and continue to grow,” said Bhebhe. –
