ALAS Group Corporation, is a multinational organisation, that caters for diverse and strategic sectors including but not limited to, aviation, renewables, economics and consultancy. Its headway into the country is part of its strategic growth and expansion strategy.

A delegation led by of the Group Chairman, Mr Dustin Paul Wilden and Group Southern Africa CEO, Mr Shelton Nkomo recently visited the country and met various key stakeholders including the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA).

In a statement, Mr Nkomo said deliberations on the prospective opportunities were done and a second visit was slated for April.
“ALAS Group Executive Delegation, visited Zimbabwe in December of 2022 where they held preliminary discussions with Government entities which included Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA), with whom they deliberated on the opportunities for development in Zimbabwe in various industry sectors, which included prospects of harnessing carbon trading and markets, development and propagation of green technology infrastructure, boosting the tourism sector and turning around the national aviation landscape amongst others sectors,” said Mr Nkomo.

He said the group’s expansion initiative into Zimbabwe was advised by the President’s pronouncement that Zimbabwe was open for business, and the opportunities for development and investment in the energy, aviation and tourism sectors were in sync with the achievement of the country’s economic blueprint – National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).

“ALAS Group Executive delegation which comprise of the Group Chairman, Mr Dustin Paul Wilden are scheduled for a second visit to Zimbabwe in April, where they are expected to meet with Government officials and local stakeholders to continue with discussions on strategic partnerships that will help pave way and secure the economic future of the country in various sectors.

“This comes after the group’s recent expansion of its global operations network into the Southern African hemisphere where its objectives are to realise partnerships with various Governments and key industry stakeholders to support the development of the region’s much needed economic turnaround,” said Mr Nkomo.

The group’s expansion into Zimbabwe, comes at a point when the nation is facing challenges in the energy sector that is marked by power outages, that continue to negatively impact the economy. The aviation sector has also had its fair share of challenges which need partnerships that can help the country realise an economic turnaround and a connection with the globe which is important in boosting the tourism sector.

The group is optimistic and looking forward to making significant headway not exclusively in Zimbabwe alone but the SADC region as a whole to ensure that Southern Africa develops and is established as a major economic hub through the provision of the group’s strategic services. -@nyeve14
