SEASONED musician, Alexio Kawara, is this week back with the Thursday show dubbed “KuChina” at the Zimbabwe German Society.
Alexio is back onto the musical arena as a newly-converted Christian with a whole new approach to his career.
In an interview with H-Metro, he opened up about his current plans.
“I would describe the Christian journey as a roller coaster. It’s one where you are learning to walk by the Spirit. The old self doesn’t let go easily. I am thankful for God’s strength and fellow believers who have been helping me.
“The best part, however, is the freedom it has brought to my life as I live knowing that I have a God who loves me beyond measure and is there for me and with me always.”
After a long sabbatical, Alexio sees major shifts as a Christian.
“I am now particular about what to associate my brand with, in terms of venues and types of events.
“I am also not as frequent a performer as I used to be because of my commitment to the things of God.
“I am going, to be honest, on this one. I am submissive to God’s authority. I intend to use, not just my music, but my life, to heal the broken-hearted and to give hope to the hopeless.
“I am going to do music as God directs me to.”
Alexio reckons his fans have embraced his new stance as a Christian.
“Most of them say that my music has been inclined to gospel music anyway and they cannot wait to hear my next release. There have been some complaints about why I have taken a back step from the performances.
“I have tried to explain and some do understand.”
Explaining the KuChina concept to new fans, he adds:
“KuChina was our regular Thursday night show. The Shona word for Thursday is China, hence the name KuChina.
“I have had testimonials of how therapeutic the KuChina experience was for my fans and I felt I owe it to them to host one big reunion for them.”
