Afro-jazz crooner Alexio Kawara successfully launched his single track “Zva Zvinhu” on Tuesday night at Zimbabwe German Society  despite having a broken leg injured in an accident recently. The “Shaina” hitmaker said “Zva Zvinhu” is a collaboration with Beitbridge-based ELL-T and the track is off his forthcoming 13-track album “Oyi” to be released next year.

“To appreciate all the people that have been supporting me I chose to give the CDs for free as a Christmas present.

“I was overwhelmed by the love I got when I was in hospital, may God bless them all,” he said.

“The fresh track “Zva Zvinhu” is a clubbing song which has a bit of sungura guitar, Nigerian urban groove, African drum and hosho,” he said.

The jazz artiste performed more than five songs such as “Shaina”,”Zva Zvinhu”, “Karwiyo” although he did them sitting on a chair.

Some of the fans were thrilled by the free copies they received and how fast he is recovering from the injury.

“I’m very happy that Alexio loves us this much, it’s not easy for an artiste to give his music for free. I was happy with the performance he delivered in that state,” said Tawanda Hute.

Last month when Alexio was celebrating his 35th birthday he donated some books, school shoes and t-shirts at Ushamba Primary School as part of his social responsibility project.

Kawara’s forthcoming album will be his sixth after venturing into the musical scene in 1999 with a single track “Amai”.

The 35-year-old musician became a household name after the release of his debut album “Usazondisiya” in 2003 which featured hit songs like “Ndinomhanya” and “Kumba Kwenyu”.

His track “Shaina” could be his biggest achievement so far as it was redone in Chinese.

The musician has worked with different artistes on different projects that included the late Andy Brown, Clive Mono Mukundu and Newman Chipeni among others.
