AN assortment of events is lined up for the birthday of celebrated afro-fusion artiste Alexio Kawara (pictured) who turns 35 tomorrow.
The celebrations that will take two days will see the birthday boy making his first stop at Ushamba Primary School in Mutoko tomorrow afternoon to grace a prize-giving ceremony.
“What better way to celebrate my birthday than with the people that matter to me the most. As a follow-up to the commitment I made during the launch of my social responsibility project, I will donate books, school shoes and T-shirts,” he said.
The party comes to Harare tomorrow night. Some of Alexio’s friends in the music business, Ngoni Kambarami, Cindy Munyavi and Ba Shupi, will join forces with the songster at the Zimbabwe German Society.
The artistes will play together with Alexio’s band, Shades of Black.
“The Thursday ZGS show is not rehearsed for as I just want to have fun on the stage with some of the friends that I have made over the years. I have done a track with Ngoni, Ruvengo and Cindy among other artistes. We are looking to rekindle that vibe and give fans a treat on stage,” he said.
A more serious performance on Friday night at Cresta Jameson’s The Usual Place will mark the end of the celebrations. The Shades of Black will croon to a different crowd al- together at the Home of Jazz.
Meanwhile, Alexio will soon release a single for the festive season.
“A promotional Christmas track is due for release any day and fans are up for a surprise.
“The track is certainly something one that will make people dance throughout the festive season. It will be on my new album set for early next year,” he said.
