VICE PRESIDENT Dr Kembo Mohadi has called on the business community to align profitability with purpose to build a resilient and inclusive economy that leaves no one and no place behind.

He said generosity and social responsibility are critical in making a tangible impact on people’s lives.

The VP made the remarks while officiating at the Zodwa Mkandla Foundation Golf Day in Harare yesterday.

Now in its second year, the Golf Day is the brainchild of businesswoman and philanthropist Ms Zodwa Mkandla.

Said VP Mohadi: “As the Second Republic, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, we have consistently emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving our national development aspirations under Vision 2030.

“Events such as this Golf Day exemplify how sport can be leveraged as a vehicle for social good, mobilising resources, raising awareness, and strengthening bonds within our communities.

“The corporate partners and sponsors present here today deserve special recognition. Your generosity and social responsibilities are critical in ensuring that initiatives like these continue to make a tangible impact to our people.”

VP Mohadi said when business leaders align profitability with purpose, a resilient and inclusive economy that leaves no one and no place behind is created.

While trophies and accolades were part of the competition, added the VP, the real victory lay in the lives that would be transformed through funds raised at the event.

He urged other business leaders to draw inspiration from the achievements of the Foundation.

VP Mohadi said Zimbabwe is built on resilience and solidarity, and reminded the nation of the need for collective effort in its building.

“We have faced challenges, yet time and again, we have demonstrated our capacity to unite for the greater good.

“Let this event serve as a reminder that together, we can achieve far more than we can individually,” he said.

The VP reminded delegates of the adage that says:

“If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go with others”.

He explained that the Zodwa Mkandla Foundation is indeed going far, as it is moving with others.

Stakeholders were called upon to continue supporting philanthropic initiatives that complement Government efforts in poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, women’s development and community upliftment.

VP Mohadi said by investing in the people, the nation is investing in its future.
