All eyes on Mutare derby

MUTARE Polly have a point to prove when they take on rivals Mutare City Rovers in a Zifa Eastern Region Division One league derby showdown at Sakubva this afternoon. Mutare Polly coach Kinson Manase believes time has come for his side to get a win over their city rivals. “We are well prepared for the game and we are looking forward to a win,” Manase said.

“Our performance so far has been impressive and it is my wish that we continue with our fine form.
“We have been commanding a good following, even in away matches, and playing at Sakubva means that this will be like a home tie for us.”

Saul Tomu, Mutare City Rovers secretary-general said they were not underrating their opponents.
“Mutare Polly have a point to prove as they have not defeated us so we will take the game seriously and put aside history,” said Tomu.

“People in Mutare are looking forward to this game and the atmosphere is good as they expect a tough battle.
“Our advantage is we have managed to draw several away matches with four draws and a single win after the five games so we do not want to have our first defeat coming from our neighbours.”

The other big match will see Buffalo Junior taking on log leaders Surrey Abattoirs at Vengere.
