Still basking in glory after scooping the Cal Vin Mgcini Nhliziyo Hip-Hop Award at the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards (RoilBAA), hip-hop sensation Asaph has proved to be the best rapper in Zimbabwe after he won four awards at this year’s Zim Hip-Hop Awards.
The awards were held on 12 December at Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
Asaph won the Best Hip-Hop Personality award and Best Hip-Hop verse. The song Ginde which he collaborated on with Crooger, earned him the Best Collaboration and Best Video awards.
Upon receiving the awards, Asaph said he was honoured and grateful for the accolades.
“The vibe has been correct this year, awards are coming my way and I am grateful the grind is paying off finally. Winning these accolades doesn’t mean I am relaxing, actually, they are a sign that more is yet to come from Asaph.
“More projects are on their way for next year as I had a lot of productions with other artistes that were not released this year as intended. I am still deciding how we will release these projects but I think it’s best if they are released as a singles collection,” said Asaph.
Meanwhile, Asaph has been putting in work even in December.
His Back To December (BTD) music video featuring Msiz’Kay and Kwaito boy Mawiza is garnering decent numbers and reviews on YouTube.
His visuals game has been hailed as clean and friendly to all ages as he accommodates every generation on his music videos through fresh visuals and content.
“I think many people are hailing the BTD video because it’s clean. Every time when I do music visuals, I make sure the output of the project can be watched by people from different walks of life either old, young, black, white, Kasi boys or Burg Boys.
“The videos have pushed me more and they have endorsed my brand as a rapper and I will continue doing cleaner visuals and send the proper message,” said Asaph.
Other dope visuals Asaph worked on this year include Like So/Mhoroi, Bho Zvekuti (collaboration with Tasha) and +263 (collaboration with Gemma Griffiths).
