All is set for the World Athletics course

WORLD Athletics have appointed Lisimati Phakamile as the course lecturer for the International Level One coaching course which is scheduled to take place in Bulawayo from October 22 to 31.

The international course has been sponsored by the global body which has since despatched course materials to Zimbabwe.

Phakamile is the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe director coaching.

Together with NAAZ president Tendai Tagara, they hold high-level qualifications from the World Athletics.

The course outline includes the physiology of sport and exercise, biomechanics, psychology, and coaching practical. The participants will have a practical assessment and theory assessment.

The course has drawn coaches from schools, clubs, colleges, former runners and universities.

Tagara says they are left with three slots and all is in place for the international course.

“The NAAZ international level 1 coaching course has been approved and will take place in Bulawayo.

“The best coach will receive a special watch from World Athletics from their sponsors SEIKO.

“We are happy that they have also appointed our own man Lisimart Phakamile as the course lecture. The course was postponed in September due to the logistics of timing when most of our participants were going back to school. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the slots have been limited. Almost all slots have been grabbed,” said Tagara.

The athletes were required to pay a sum of US$250 or equivalent in local currency.
