THE countdown is over as excitement reaches fever pitch ahead of the Matojeni Farewell Show: “Siyofik’ eLondon”, set for tomorrow in Bulawayo before the acclaimed cultural ensemble embarks on its European tour.

The June 28 show is expected to provide local audiences with a final opportunity to experience Matojeni Melo-Maniacs live before the group heads to Europe to showcase Zimbabwean culture on international stages.

Group member Gugulethu Sibanda said preparations had been completed and the ensemble was eager to reward supporters with a memorable performance.

“We are ready and excited to finally present our own show at home. This is our way of thanking Bulawayo for believing in us and supporting our journey from the very beginning. Tomorrow is going to be a celebration of our culture, our music and our people,” she said.

She encouraged fans to attend in large numbers, saying the performance promises to deliver the signature

Matojeni magic” that has captivated audiences both locally and abroad.

“People should come prepared to sing, dance and celebrate with us before we leave. We have put together a special show that reflects who we are and what we stand for as ambassadors of Zimbabwean culture,” said Sibanda.

The farewell concert will also serve as a fundraising initiative aimed at helping offset the group’s travel expenses ahead of the European tour.

Known for blending traditional Zimbabwean songs with contemporary musical arrangements, Matojeni has earned recognition for performances that celebrate cultural heritage through storytelling, percussion, harmonies and dance.

Tomorrow’s event is expected to attract music lovers, cultural enthusiasts and supporters who have followed the group’s rise since their formation in 2023.

Following the Bulawayo performance, the ensemble will depart for Europe where they are scheduled to perform at various cultural events and festivals while promoting Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage on the international stage.
