The annual conference, expected to be attended by at least 270 chiefs and their spouses, would also tackle how chiefs could effectively participate in community share ownership schemes for the benefit of their communities.
Some of the chiefs started arriving in Masvingo yesterday for the conference to be held at the Masvingo Polytechnic.
Vice President Joice Mujuru will close the conference on Saturday.
Chiefs’ Council president, Chief Fortune Charumbira, yesterday said the indigenisation and economic empowerment programme would feature on the agenda.
“All is set for the three-day conference where we are going to have several sessions to discuss issues that are pertinent to chiefs. High on the agenda will be indigenisation and economic empowerment, especially the role of community share ownership schemes in engendering development in rural communities.’’
Chief Charumbira said the draft constitution’s clause on land caused some discomfort to chiefs,” he said.
