Its all systems go for the inaugural edition of the Zimbabwe Gospel Music Awards (ZIGMA) at the Casino Marina, Longcheng Plaza, tonight.
The red carpet affair has been designed to celebrate local talent, promote industry growth, and foster creativity.
More than 100 nominees are set to battle for honours in over 20 categories.
Lee Chitsungo, the brains behind the awards, has assured guests of a classy event.
“We are fully committed to delivering a prestigious and well-organised inaugural edition of the Zimbabwe Gospel Music Awards.
“Everything is now set and all logistics in place.
“Every detail has been carefully planned to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for attendees, nominees, and stakeholders,” said ZIGMA director Lee Chitsungo.
Chitsungo feels the awards will impact the local gospel scene.
“Our aim is not only to celebrate talent but also set a solid foundation for future editions, ensuring the continued growth of gospel music in Zimbabwe,” he said.
Most of the nominees, including big guns, Michael Mahendere, Mambo Dhuterere, and Dorcas Moyo, among others, have confirmed their participation
Rumbi Zvirikuzhe who received most nominations is confident, this could be her platform to shine.
Obert Chari, Pastor G, Vabati VaJehovah and Spirit Praise have been roped in to perform at the event to honour the talent and dedication of Zimbabwean gospel artists.
Seventeen artists including Michael Mahendere, Dorcas Moyo, Mambo Dhutere, Rumbi Zvirikuzhe and Nyasha Mutonhori among others are up for the Song of the Year.
Nicholas Chirunga and Rhoda January face stiff competition from 10 other nominees for the Best Newcomer gong.
Other categories include Best Video, Best Group, Best Female, Best Male, Best Producer, Best Videographer, Best Album and Best Collaboration.
