THE stage is set for the second edition of the Gwambe Arts and Culture Festival, which kicks off on Friday and runs through Saturday at Gwambe Grounds, popularly known as koMagabha/eMaboleni, in Bulilima District.
Running under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage, Inspiring Future Generations”, the festival seeks to bring the Gwambe community together while showcasing its rich cultural heritage through music, dance, art, food and other community activities.
According to the organisation’s secretary, Sithembile Siqhoza, this year’s edition is set to be bigger, with schoolchildren, poets, traditional groups and musicians from the rhumba and maskandi genres expected to take part.
“This year’s event will be bigger and more exciting. Participants include school children, poets, traditional groups and musicians from the rhumba and maskandi genres.
“We will also have a display of AmaTshitshi based in Gwambe known as Ikusasa Lethu. The group has more than 40 girls. We hope to have other AmaTshitshi groups from places like Diba and nearby areas,” said Siqhoza.
The festival is expected to provide a platform for local talent while encouraging younger generations to embrace and preserve their cultural heritage.
