THE fairways and greens of the iconic Bulawayo Golf Club are set to be, once again, buzzing when The Farmer’s Daughter Golf Tournament tees off on November 7.

In its inaugural edition, the tournament is set to bring together farmers, corporate leaders, Government officials, and community members.

It will be running under the theme: “Promoting Inclusive Growth through Agriculture, Sportsmanship, and Community Development — Advancing NDS1 & NDS2.”

The tournament is set to transcend the fairways and greens, as it is a platform to celebrate the invaluable role of farming families in driving agricultural productivity, community development, and economic empowerment.

“The Farmers’ Daughter Golf Tournament is a testament to the power of agriculture to transform lives and communities. By providing a platform for farmers to showcase their skills and products, the tournament promotes agricultural development, youth empowerment, and community resilience.

The event will also demonstrate commitment to supporting agriculture, community upliftment, and national development goals by empowering the community through renting farms, introducing joint ventures, and increasing employment opportunities,” host Pretty Sibanda told Zimpapers Sports Hub.

In the spirit of community empowerment, all the funds raised from the tournament will be channelled towards communal upliftment through various programmes. Sibanda said this will also serve as a testament that sport can be used to drive social change while promoting community development.

“Funds raised from the tournament will go towards Community Impact programmes, contributing towards agricultural development, youth empowerment, and community resilience through workshops, hands-on training, and Joint Venture programmes, agriculture inputs, and farm renting and to create employment.

This initiative is a shining example of how sports can be used to drive social change and promote community development and restore the breadbasket of Zimbabwe,” she said.

The forthcoming tournament is set to serve as an inspiration to many, particularly young people and women, who are often under-represented in the agricultural sector. By showcasing the success of young farmers and women in agriculture, the tournament aims to inspire and empower the next generation of farmers and entrepreneurs.

“The Farmers’ Daughter Golf Tournament is a significant step towards achieving Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, which aims to transform the country into a middle-income economy by 2030. By promoting inclusive growth, food security, and employment creation, the tournament contributes to the realisation of this vision,” said Sibanda.

She also called on the golfing community to come out in numbers and support the cause of an exciting day of golf, networking, and community engagement.

“Together, we can promote inclusive growth, agricultural development, and community resilience.”
