Independence celebrations kick off today in Bulawayo with the traditional Resident Minister’s Ball where the province is targeting to raise $50 000 which will be used to help the less privileged.

Provincial administrator Mrs Khonzani Ncube said the event would be held at Rainbow Hotel with each person being charged $20 for a seat.

“We’re targeting $50 000 this year which we’ll donate to the less privileged in the city,” said Mrs Ncube.

She said the province had identified three organisations which will benefit from the money raised at the ball.

Meanwhile, Mrs Ncube said all was set for the Independence Day celebrations to be held at White City Stadium tomorrow.

“We have mobilised adequate resources to provide food to those who will attend and we have also lined up a number of groups to provide entertainment,” she said.
