The 2010 Intwasa Festival KoBulawayo director, Raisedon Baya, urged people of Bulawayo to support the annual festival.
“It’s all systems go for the festival. We cannot stop at anything. We have put up a programme that we think is good enough for arts lovers and it is never too late or too early for others to start enjoying the arts.
“The festival actually needs the support of the people of Bulawayo. Great support is needed from the corporate world, ordinary people and artists themselves for the festival to be a success,” said Baya.
Baya took time to explain that Intwasa was not a Bulawayo event, but an international artistic event held in Bulawayo.
Intwasa Festival KoBulawayo is a multi-disciplinary arts festival that brings together various art forms that include dance, theatre, music, film, literary arts, visual arts, spoken word and fashion under one roof every year.
The festival has done so for the past six years and it is aimed at celebrating and promoting artistic talent locally, regionally and globally.
The official opening of Intwasa Festival KoBulawayo by the Deputy Prime Minister, Ms Thokozani Khupe has been rescheduled for this evening.
The official opening was initially scheduled for tomorrow and its rescheduling follows revelations by DPM Khupe that she would be available this evening.
“The Honourable Deputy Prime Minister, Ms Thokozani Khupe, has informed us that she will fly to Bulawayo tomorrow (today) soon after a cabinet meeting hence we have rescheduled the official opening of our arts festival. It is now set for Tuesday 21 September (today) in the evening at the National Gallery. We had initially scheduled it for Wednesday (tomorrow) so as to enable DPM Khupe to attend the cabinet meeting,” said Baya.
Baya said the official opening was not going to take long as other Intwasa events were lined up at different venues today including the launch of Erica Gwetai’s second book Realities.
