All set for Mafaro Chete concert

Dancehall emcee Winky D is headlining the Coca-Cola Mafaro Chete Concert scheduled for this Sunday in the Harare Gardens.
Born Wallace Chirumiko, Winky D scored a double Nama 2011 after scooping the Outstanding Album (Igofigo) and People’s Choice Awards (Music).
Definitely, things are going on well for Winky D, who only a few years back was a run of the mill artiste.
Now the spotlight is on the “ghetto superstar” born and bred in Kambuzuma where he used to dream of making it big in music.
Also on the bill is Stunner, real name Desmond Chideme, another ghetto youth who rose to prominence with his chart topper “Team Hombe”.
Stunner, known for his “swagger”, has become a brand in his own right clinching major endorsements from G-Tide and Coca-Cola.
Another hot favourite is ExQ, who sings nothing but love songs. Like Stunner, ExQ has a unique way of enchanting his fans with love on almost all his tracks.
He’s got style, finesse and energy that charms even those who do not know him whenever he performs on stage.
Alexio Kawara is another firebrand on the list and he’s sure to bring the roof down with his chart-topping hit “Shaina”.
The good thing about the concert is that it brings together all the best in the urban grooves genre and you cannot ignore such names like Cindy Munyavi, whose Groove Theory album features the scorcher “Nerudo” that has been receiving fair play on the airwaves.
King Shaddy is another must-see act at the concert as he is rated one of the most talented chanters in local dancehall. He is expected to delight fans with such songs as “Letter to Mai Huni” and “Ndezve Varume”, “Sista Gire”, “Maggi Mukaranga”, to mention just but a few.
To spice up the line-up there is going to be performances by the top dance group High Definition, Junior Banton, Madiz, Extra Large and MC Chita and Junior Brown.
Harare’s finest disc jockeys, D-Nosh and L. Roy, will be on standby to rock the place with the hottest urban hits.
According to the organisers, the concert starts at midday and ends at 10pm.
It is hoped that the show will bring together the hottest there is in the country in a week belonging to the youths.
“We will be at our best to entertain our fans, thanks to Coca-Cola for according us this platform to shine,” said Stunner.
Winky D, arguably the man of the moment, said: “We are taking our music to a higher level. Sunday’s Coca-Cola Mafaro Chete Show will see us doing big things. People should not miss out on this show as we have so much in store.”
Cindy, who is popularly known as the Queen of Song, said: “The nation should expect nothing but the best. I am known to deliver good acts and I promise that I will not disappoint.”
Coca-Cola senior brand manager Mona Karingi said fans would enjoy Coca-Cola at its best.
“The Coca-Cola Mafaro Chete concert marks the beginning of a very exciting year. People should come and enjoy what we have in stock as they enjoy their favourite musicians brought to them by Coca-Cola.”
Honest Marandu, Coca-Cola country manager, added that Sunday’s concert would be a day to remember.
