PREPARATIONS for this year’s Matabeleland South Agricultural Show are at an advanced stage, the show society’s president, Mr Misheck Ndlovu, has said. The 56th edition of the show traditionally held in Gwanda Town will run from tomorrow until Saturday under the theme “Promoting Innovations that work”. “Preparations are now at an advanced stage and exhibitors are busy putting final touches to their stands,” said Mr Ndlovu.
He said they had received an overwhelming response from exhibitors as all the stands had been booked.
More than 65 organisations had confirmed participation.
“All our 58 stands have been taken up and more than 50 percent of the exhibitors have shown financial commitment as they have already made their payments while some are yet to do so. We are optimistic that this year we will have a better show,” said Mr Ndlovu.
The business community, farmers and miners among others would exhibit their products at the show.
Participants have in the previous shows managed to clinch deals and venture into successful joint ventures.
Mr Ndlovu invited people from within and outside Matabeleland South to come in large numbers to explore business opportunities so as to improve the growth of the country’s economy.
“We had a peaceful election period and we are optimistic that the show would present favourable business opportunities for the people,” he said.
The livestock section would be one of the main attractions at the show as farmers had managed to sustain their cattle through various drought mitigation programmes such as feedlots.
