Organiser of the event Sarah Mpofu of Fingers Modelling Agency said it was all systems go as every thing has been set for the big event.
“All is set for the event although sponsorship was really hard to come by.
“We had very gruelling auditions and I am sure it would be a top-flight competition as any of the contestants can win the big prize,” said Mpofu.
Urban grooves artiste Ngoni Kambarami and a number of up- and-coming artistes are billed to provide entertainment.
Mpofu said although sponsorship was hard to come by this year’s winners would walk away with prizes.
“Sponsorship was very hard to come by but I would like to thank our sponsors who chipped in to support this event and I am proud to say despite the challenges we have got, we have better prizes this year compared to the previous years,” said Mpofu.
Guest of honour at the event is Miss World 1981 semi-finalist Juliet Nyathi.
Mpofu, the city’s renowned grooming and modelling instructor, commended former beauty queens Samantha Tshuma, Sizi Ndlovu and Nadi Gori for their support in organising the pageant.
“I would like to thank the former beauty queens for their support some of them even donated attire for the contestants,” said Mpofu.
She urged the audience to come clad in their best colours in line with the theme, “Style in Colour.”
“This season is all about colour, happiness and love and this is represented through colours,” she said.
Outgoing Miss Bulawayo, Nadia Gori, will miss the event as she is in Malaysia where she is representing the country at the Miss Tourism International pageant.
Some of the former beauty queens that have carved a niche for themselves in the world of modelling are Samantha Tshuma, Lorraine Maphala, Oslie Muringai, Caroline Marufu and the controversial Lungile Mathe.
The event starts at 7.30pm and advance tickets are going for $10.
