Addressing journalists at a Press conference, Munzara said everything else was set for the red carpet show.  “It is unfortunate that we could not raise money for an air ticket for Miss Global International. However, Miss Global Botswana as well as Miss Global South Africa and her princesses will come through as planned. We are expecting corporates and influential business people to grace the event as well.”

Some 15 contestants had already checked into boot camp at Margolis Resort in preparation for the finals. The beauties will battle it out to win Miss Global Zimbabwe, Miss International and one princess.

“We recently got a licence for the prestigious Miss International. Therefore, we will have two queens; the first – Miss Global Zimbabwe who will represent the country at the international pageant in Jamaica, and Miss International, who will also represent Zimbabwe at Miss International in Japan. The third title will be a princess who will travel for other pageants if we secure funds to take her there,” he said.

Sharon Musonza from Steve Margolis Resort applauded the pageant for its innovativeness.
“We are happy to be associated with Miss Global because they are a young organisation that is actually doing something to benefit the community. We share the same vision of promoting the country and its local tourism. Our country has a lot to offer and that can only be achieved if we support such initiatives,” she said.

Other sponsors that came through for Miss Global Zimbabwe include Food World, Darling Hair Products, Pepsi, Vaida Chemicals, SA Cash & Carry, AFC, Black Opal, Astra Paints and Gtel.

Reigning Miss Global Nadine Hann was also present as a brand ambassador for Gtel. Although she was not her usual glamorous self she wished the finalists all the best.
