SEVERAL Dynamos and CAPS United players, officials and fans are expected to attend the tombstone unveiling of the late legend, Freddy Mkwesha, in Goromonzi on Saturday.
Mkwesha’s daughters Nyasha and Virginia, have already flown into the country from their bases in Ireland and Germany.
Virginia Mkwesha-Hetze, who is the family spokesperson, told H-Metro that a number of people have confirmed their attendance.
“The unveiling of the tombstone of Freddy Mkwesha is to be held this Saturday at Mukwesha Village in Goromonzi,” said Virginia.
“Preparations are at an advanced stage and a number of people from all walks of life have confirmed their availability.
“Guests will include former and current Dynamos and CAPS United players, members, and other football players.
“We have guests coming from other countries as well.
“The event is open for everyone since our wish is to have all the people, who knew Freddy Mkwesha, to be there.”
Mkwesha’s widow, Agnes, told H-Metro that widows of football legends will be among the guests.
“My husband was a Catholic member, like myself, so everything will begin with a church service.
“We are also expecting widows of soccer legends to find time to celebrate a life lived by our departed soccer heroes,” said Agnes.
Mkwesha was born on December 12, 1941, in the Goromonzi area and died in December 2015 after losing his battle against diabetes.
His talents took him to Portugal where he played in the country’s top-flight league.
He became one of the board members at Dynamos.
