More than 30 teams are set to battle it out in the courts for the four places that are up for grabs in the most elite league of netball.
Zina fixtures secretary Agnes Chiroodza said all preparations were in place and they were confident they will finish the games on time because they have more than six courts which could be used.
“We are looking forward to the play-offs where by the end of the day we should remain with four teams that we will be promoted to the Super League,” she said.
Zimbabwe Netball Association president Leticia Chipandu said they had invited three top teams from all the provinces in the country but a low turnout was possible due to the inactivity of some teams in the province.
“Some of the provinces are still not very active in netball but we have invited three top teams from all the provinces and we expect a big turnout,” Chipandu said.
The Super League had 20 teams dotted around the country with City of Harare, City of Mutare, Mashava United and Rushinga being relegated and are expected to play in the first division at the beginning of the season. Nehanda Nyakasikana clinched the championship after amassing 76 points.
Railstars, the only side from Bulawayo Metropolitan Province playing in the Super League who have clinched the championship two years in a row (2010 and 2011) failed to make it this year and finished second with 70 points.
The Janota Phiri-coached Railway outfit however lost only three games last season.
Matabeleland Province is represented by ZPC Hwange and Hwange Colliery Netball Club.
