All set for new school term

HARARE’S central business district (CBD) was a hive of activity today as parents and learners made last-minute preparations for the second term, which starts tomorrow.

Boarders also converged at their usual pick-up points to catch buses to their respective schools ahead of the opening of the new school term.

Robert Mugabe Square and Mbare Long Distance Bus Terminus were teeming with students, parents and buses heading to schools in different parts of the country.

Stockists of uniforms, stationery and other accessories were also busy as people jostled to buy provisions for the new school term, especially winter wear.

Eden Graceland School Form Four learner Tinotenda Murimi expressed joy over the start of a new term.

“I am happy that I am going back to school where I will be meeting up with my friends. I am also relishing the prospect of working harder than last term since I will be sitting for my O’ level exams this year,” he said.

“The adoption of the Heritage-based curriculum was crucial in preserving our cultural roots while fostering a sense of pride and respect for our history and traditions. I believe this curriculum will play a pivotal role in shaping future generations of Zimbabweans who will be deeply connected to their heritage and culture.”

Glen Norah resident, Mrs Tendai Gondora, said she was happy that some schools were now selling winter wear, which saves parents from the stress of running around looking for the uniforms.
