RWANDA is set to recruit a second cohort of over 150 Zimbabwean teachers as part of a skilled worker exchange agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The recruitment seeks to fill vacant positions in various fields, including Basic General Education Teachers, Basic Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) teachers, TVET higher institution lecturers, Special Needs and Inclusive Teachers, among other posts.
The recruitment is being conducted by technical committees from the two countries.
In 2021, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will allow the two countries to exchange 477 skilled personnel from various fields, including teachers.
To date, more than 200 teachers from Zimbabwe have been recruited by the Rwandan Government.
In a statement, Public Service and Social Welfare secretary, Mr Simon Masanga said: “The Ministry of Public Service and Social Welfare of the Republic of Zimbabwe in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Rwanda through an MOU signed on December 23rd 2021 between the two countries is recruiting the second cohort of competent Zimbabwean educational personnel; to be employed in Rwanda on job positions under four categories as described below in Annex 1 of this announcement.
“…Candidates who will pass the pre-selection stage will be recommended by the Minister of Public Service and Social Welfare of the Republic of Zimbabwe to be registered in the recruitment system managed by both the Ministry of Public Service and Labour and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Rwanda.”
The recruitment is understood to be a continuous process through which more professionals are expected to progressively benefit.
