All is set for the annual pre-Independence Children’s Party, which will be held tomorrow (Friday) at Mahetshe Primary School in Maphisa, Matabeleland South Province, with President Mnangagwa and First Lady Amai Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa expected to officiate at the event from 12 noon.

The Children’s Party forms part of the Independence celebrations’ build-up activities, bringing together learners from across the province in a festive and educational gathering that highlights the country’s commitment to children’s welfare and development.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Torerai Moyo, toured Mahetshe Primary School to assess the state of preparedness ahead of the event. He expressed satisfaction with the level of readiness, noting that both infrastructure and logistical arrangements were in place to successfully host the high-profile occasion.
Dr Moyo also paid tribute to President Mnangagwa for what he described as significant strides being made in improving the education sector in Zimbabwe under the Second Republic. He highlighted ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening the learning environment, improving school infrastructure, and enhancing access to quality education.
The Minister commended the organising teams and local stakeholders for ensuring that preparations for the Children’s Party were progressing smoothly, describing the venue as ready to welcome pupils, officials, and guests.
