Musician Mavusani, dance outfit Iyasa and songstress Sandra Ndebele are set to headline the inaugural Munhumutapa Day musical gala, which will be held at Mvurwi Stadium tomorrow.
The gala comes after President Mnangagwa proclaimed September 15 a public holiday to be known as Munhumutapa Day through Statutory Instrument 148 of 2026 under the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act.
The musical gala, which starts at 6pm, is part of the celebrations marking the newly declared public holiday.
They will share the stage with a star-studded line-up of local and regional artistes, including Botswana’s Vee Mapenzy, Alick Macheso, Freeman, Sugar Sugar, Enzo Ishall, Killer T, the Charambas, Mathias Mhere, Chief Hwenje, Peter Moyo, Sulumani Chimbetu, Seh Calaz, Dorcas Moyo, Onismo, Jah Promo, Andy Muridzo, Ndunge Yut and Jnr Spragga, among others.
The gala is expected to provide entertainment for thousands of music lovers as the country commemorates the first Munhumutapa Day.
Several of the artistes on the line-up are enjoying successful runs on the local music scene, with Jnr Spragga currently riding high with his hit song Daka.
Sugar Sugar has also been enjoying a successful period following the release of Todya Mudododo, which has helped raise his profile on the local music scene.
The event is expected to bring together music lovers from Mvurwi and surrounding areas for a day of entertainment and celebration.
