All is set for the Zanu-PF Presidential Youth Interface Rally to be held on Saturday next week at Pelandaba Stadium in Gwanda, Matabeleland South province.

The province said the ground work has already been done for the much awaited opportunity to interact with President Mugabe with mobilising teams busy in all the districts.

Zanu-PF Youth League’s Secretary Cde Kudzanai Chipanga confirmed the date urging the party’s supporters to come in their numbers.

Matabeleland South will host President Mugabe following successful interface rallies in Matabeleland North, Masvingo, Mashonaland West, Manicaland and Mashonaland East provinces.

“The Presidential Youth Interface for Matabeleland South will be held on Saturday 12 August at Pelandaba Stadium in Gwanda. We are urging the party’s supporters to come in their numbers and interact with His Excellency,” said Cde Chipanga.

He said the host province should work on finalising preparations now that the date for the rally has been set.

“They must rush in terms of their preparations. They were still doing the mass mobilisation so they must speed up the process. They need to mobilise adequate resources and on our part we are going to assist them with items such as T-shirts and tents. We are also going to support them with supplementary fuel from our national executive coffers,” he said.

Cde Chipanga said the challenge to Matabeleland South was to emulate the other provinces that have held very successful rallies.

He expressed optimism that there will be a bumper crowd at Pelandaba Stadium as has been the case in other provinces.

Meanwhile, Zanu-PF deputy secretary for administration and politburo member Cde July Moyo was in Gwanda yesterday to assess the progress in the preparations for the Saturday rally and the forthcoming Zanu-PF National People’s Conference scheduled for December in the same province.

He was leading a technical team tasked with giving guidelines and requirements for holding these two high profile events.

“This year is very important for Matabeleland South province. It hosted the 21st February Movement celebrations for our iconic President his Excellency, Commander in chief and First Secretary of Zanu PF, Cde Mugabe and it was a successful event .We are here today in Gwanda as the leadership of Matabeleland South decided that this town, the capital of this province, should host the Presidential Interface Rally,” said Cde Moyo.

He said a team will be tasked to coordinate schools, lodges and hotels to accommodate  delegates to the two events.
