All set for SLIZ camp

VISITING West Virginia University sports professor Gonzalo Bravo believes Zimbabwe has what it takes to take sport in the country to a higher level. The renowned United States of America sports guru is in the country for the annual Sport Leaders Institute of Zimbabwe sports management winter camp pencilled for Victoria Falls this weekend.

Addressing a Press conference at the SLIZ offices in Harare yesterday, Bravo said sports management seminars are critical in the development of sport in the world.

Zimbabwe is one of the countries still lagging behind in issues to do with taking sport to the next level as lack of expertise and resources continue to stifle progress.
Several players, including SLIZ, have come on board to address sport developmental issues in the country.

This year’s edition of the winter meet has been spiced by the stature of the main speaker, Bravo.
“I see a lot in terms of potential for sport growth in the country,” he said.

“There are a lot of gaps which can be exploited for the development of sport in the country. The fact that Zimbabweans love sport is one major plus for the country.

“There are some minor issues which just need to be addressed. There is a lot of potential and that has to be exploited.
“Otherwise, with more seminars like these, Zimbabwe will soon find its way to the world sports map.

“I am very happy to have been invited to come all the way from the United States of America to address Zimbabwean sport leaders.

“I am honoured and I promise, by the end of the meet, Zimbabwe will find its way up in terms of sports management.”
