WHEN it comes to bringing in top-tier regional and local acts together, the Jacaranda Music Festival, which will be held in Harare from October 6 to 8, never disappoints.
Close to 30 artistes are set to take to the stage at the Old Hararians Sports Club.
The festival is a celebration of the summer season.
Among the artistes set to perform on the opening day are Those Guys, Chiweddar DJ, Jason Le Roux, Murumba Pitch, Daliwonga, Manex Motsi and Tamy Moyo.
On October 7, South Africa’s Black Motion and Ladysmith Black Mambazo will share the stage with Sylent Nqo, King Her, EXQ, Nicholarzw, Mateo and Dino Mudondo.
South African jazz and Afro-pop singer Judith Sephuma, Vuyo Brown, Alexio Kawara, Gary Tight and Ammara Brown are also billed to perform.
Event organiser Walter Wanyanya said the festival was designed to bring people from all walks of life together in a celebration of life through music.
“The line-up has been carefully curated to bring the most diverse presentation of music, in a way that will see everyone finding it difficult to choose a single day to attend.
“We urge festival goers to clear their calendars for the weekend as we celebrate life through music,” Wanyanya said.
A huge turnout is expected.
The annual festival has been running since 2018.
Wanyanya said he is working day and night to make this year’s edition a resounding success.
“Our goal is to make sure that we keep the momentum going and avoid taking our loyal audience for granted. Our motto is ‘The People, The City, The Music’,” Wanyanya said.
Apart from the music, workshops will also be held, as stakeholders in the entertainment sector come together and discuss pressing issues.
Educational aspects of the music festival have become a very critical part of the event.
According to Wanyanya, presenters from as far afield as Spain and the United States are set to participate in the workshops.
Tickets for the event are already on sale, with the early birds paying US$40 for a two-day pass.
Thereafter, festival goers will have to fork out as much as US$30 for a day pass.
