All set for Zanu-PF’s 15th National People’s conference

ZANU-PF Manicaland has put all logistics in place for the 15th National People’s Conference to be held in the resort town of Victoria Falls next week.

“As Manicaland we are ready for the conference. We are happy to be going to Victoria Falls following a successful restructuring exercise. We are now strong on the ground.

“Accreditation of all delegates to the conference was completed in all the districts, save for Makoni where we expect it to be complete at the weekend. Makoni delayed in completing the restructuring exercise, but everything is almost done now. Delegates have since been informed of their pick-up points and what they are expected to carry to Victoria Falls,” said zanu-PF provincial secretary for administration, Cde Kenneth Saruchera.

He called for discipline among delegates to the conference.

“We expect delegates to be disciplined and actively participate in all deliberations during the conference. Any wayward members will be swiftly and decisively dealt with.

“We are strongly appealing to party members to conduct all their business through our defined structures. This is the only way to stop divisions, gossips and all other activities that destroy the party,” he said.

Cde Saruchera welcomed the confirming of Dr Samuel Undenge as the substantive provincial chairman and said: “We are also going to the conference in a strong position from the fact that Dr Undenge who was acting all along is now a substantive chairman.

“The issue of problems rocking the women’s league have been resolved and everyone knows who is in charge of that wing.”

Vice youth provincial chairman, Cde Mubuso Chinguno, said Manicaland had reaffirmed its support of President Mugabe as the party’s First Secretary and Presidential candidate for the 2018 elections.

“We will be going to Victoria Falls as a united Manicaland and we are happy with that. We expect economic issues to take centre stage during the conference deliberations. We have closed companies in Manicaland and it is the desire of the youth league to have them opened. The opening of the companies will help create employment in the province and a lot of people especially the youths will benefit.

“It is time for everyone to walk the talk and ensure the successful implementation of Zim-Asset,” he said.

Cde Chinguno said they were also supporting a resolution passed by other provinces to have a woman as part of the Presidium.

“This issue should be discussed during the Victoria Falls conference because it is important since women are the backbone of the party and should be represented at the highest level,” he said.

On the confirmation of Dr Undenge as the chairman, Cde Chinguno, said: “We welcome the Politburo decision on Dr Undenge because he proved to be a hardworking cadre during his acting capacity tenure. We won all by-elections and had a successful restructuring exercise during his leadership. He is a tried and tested leader and I am sure all factionalism will be dead and buried in Manicaland during his term of office.”
